This week DC had just an overall solid week. No one comic stood out above the rest, but they were all great by my standards. This is due to the amazing formally that DC has developed with Rebirth. The formula of tradition. DC has learned to honor the things that have made them the powerhouse they are while still moving ahead and making new incredible stories for these characters. It also helps that DC builds an overall narrative into all their comics, an overarching story that leaves little clues and easter eggs all over the DC universe. In my opinion this is a great way to keep readers interested in the universe. Make sure to check out: Action Comics, Detective Comics, Hal Jordan & the Green Lantern Corps, Justice League of America, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Batman/Elmer Fudd and Suicide Squad.
Marvel to me had a very mediocre week…again. Secret Empire was decent, it revealed that Bruce Banner is still alive somehow, but besides that nothing stands out to me. Unlike DC, Marvel has forgotten their history, and continues to churn out mediocrity and constantly rebranding their comics like TV seasons. They have just announced their latest rebranding called Legacy, but nevertheless it looks the same, a cosmetic change with no real substance behind it. Frankly its insulting as a reader, the fact they think that as long as they dress it up like it is honoring the past that we will think it actually is, but the readers can tell, it’s the same old same old for Marvel.
