Roundup for March 29th
This week will be focusing mostly on Marvel, this is because DC didn’t release many mainline comics this week, but a ton of Hanna-Barbara team up comics, which I know some people really enjoy, but aren’t exactly my cup of tea. Marvel was business as usual though. With the release of X-Men Prime #1, and Inhumans Prime #1 they are getting prepared for their big ResurrXion relaunch. Both comics were great in my opinion! X-Men brought back fan favourite Kitty Pryde and set her up to lead a new team, as well as doing a good job of setting up for the Weapon X comic and X-Men Blue comic. This comic, to me, felt more like a classic X-Men comic than anything else from this latest run. Inhumans Prime was also good, establishing a new status quo for their society as well as dealing with Maximus once and for all. The big question remains is what about the terrigen? And this should make for an interesting next run of comics. Other good comics that Marvel put out this week were: Old man Logan, Star-Lord, Infamous Iron Man and Thanos. To me these comics have solid writing and are paired with great artwork, which can make or break a comic for me. One comic that needs to make significant improvement if it is to survive is Ghost Rider. The first arc has been playful and full of side characters that get more attention than Ghost Rider himself, and if there is one thing Ghost Rider isn’t, its playful. The art style is good, but the writing needs some improvement.
