Round up for March 15th, 2017
DC had another solid outing, its business as usual for them. This weeks titles included: Batman, Superman, Nightwing and All-Star Batman. In my opinion the real all star this week was Trinity. Although Superman was also outstanding this week, with Mr. Mxyzptlk playing more games with Superman, and then finally Superman reverting back to the New 52 Superman, its still Trinity that takes the cake. This is because of one crucial thing for me: the villains. This week featured a team up of Circe, Ra’s al Ghul and Lex Luthor. They are harnessing the power of a new pit called the Pandora Pits. This is based off of the myth of Pandora’s box and the releasing of all evil into the world. Theses pits apparently house all evil that didn’t get released and it can be harnessed by defeating your greatest evil, in this case that is a Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman hybrid. They all needed to work together to defeat this hybrid, and this set up the unholy trinity of evil, not an official name but its pretty damn good I think. What I loved was just all these villains working together while constantly figuring out who will backstab who and for how long they will need each other. This makes for an interesting dynamic between the characters and that will play very well with our heroes.
Marvel this week was also back to the status quo of mediocrity, with one exception: The Amazing Spider-Man. This makes me very happy that Spider-Man was once again amazing this week. The credit goes to the new storyline they are embarking on which is reviving the best Spider-Man villain: Norman Osborn, The Green Goblin! This is very exciting because its been awhile since The Amazing Spider-Man has actually been amazing, but by bringing back an incredible villain they can change all of that. Norman Osborn is always a catalyst for destruction and death in Peter’s life. This is just the shake up this comic needs to get it back on its feet. If Norman lives up to his legacy, we readers are in for a treat. This comic also introduced Doc Ock in his new role as The Superior Octopus complete with his own octo-sense. This is something I am not a huge fan of but we will see how it pans out. Other comics that came out for Marvel this week include: Spider-Man, Uncanny Avengers, Daredevil and The Mighty Thor. Those were the best of what came out this week in my opinion.
