Here's Another Roundup for this weeks comics in Marvel and DC.
Marvel had a good week this week in my opinion, and I for one am excited by this. Although I am a DC fan boy at heart, I have desperately wanted Marvel to start putting out enjoyable comics again. With comics such as All-New Wolverine, Captain America: Steve Rogers, Old Man Logan and the finale to Inhumans vs X-Men, Marvel had an enjoyable reading lineup this week. Inhumans vs X-Men is the one that excites me the most though. This is not necessarily because it was a great event, but because of what it means for the future. Inhumans vs X-Men was a series with a good series with a great storyline. Following the events of Death of X, the X-Men discover that the terrigen cloud, which makes Inhumans and kills X-Men, is about to burst and make the earth uninhabitable for mutants. This causes the X-Men to strike out at the Inhumans. In this issue, the Inhumans find out that the cloud is about to burst and decide to destroy it in order to save the mutants. This isn’t enough for Emma Frost though and she attacks both mutants and inhuman kind with her army of upgraded sentinels. This ends in her defeat and her retreat back to the Hellfire Club. The reason this excites me is because it is now time for the X-Men to regroup and reorganize. This will be done in Marvel’s ResurrXion reboot. This will be giving us a classic X-Men Gold team, featuring Old Man Logan, Kitty Pryde, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler and Rachel Grey. And a newer X-Men Blue team, featuring Young Jean Grey, Young Cyclops, Young Beast, Young Iceman and Young Angel. The final team is a newly announced Astonishing X-Men team, which features Archangel, Old Man Logan, Fantomex, Bishop, Mystique, Rouge, Psylocke and Gambit. These comics make me hopefully for the future of the X-Men and give me hope that they are back on track.
DC had yet another fantastic week. With Detective Comics, Red Hood & The Outlaws, Batgirl & the Birds of Prey and Action Comics they made a strong showing. The best this week was definitely Action Comics, this was because they brought back a classic Superman villain, Mr. Mxyzptlk. It turns out that the other Clark Kent was Mr. Mxyzptlk the whole time! He was the one who stole Jonathan Kent because Superman forgot about him. This is awesome because its starting to merge old and new continuities by bringing old characters into the new world. This is what makes Rebirth so great, they are getting to bring back all the things we loved about the DC Universe, while still maintain the new status quo. A comic that didn’t work so well this week was Justice League of America. This was due to a rather boring plot. They focused on politics instead of the dynamic team, which in my opinion is what will make this comic successful. It just left me feeling like I the story didn’t progress at all in this issue. I do still hope it improves, after all its only issue #2.
