DC is getting ready for it's biggest comic milestone yet with Superman's Action Comics hitting the #1000 issue coming up in 2018. At the Meet the publishers panel at NYCC DC Co-Publishers Jim Lee and Dan DiDio gave us a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming #1000 of Action Comics.
Issue #1000 is currently scheduled to ship in March 2018, which comes just before the character's 80th anniversary in May 2018. DC will be marking the occasion with an oversized issue featuring a number of new stories. The lead story will be co-written by regular Action Comics writer Dan Jurgens and Superman writer Peter Tomasi. Doomsday Clock writer Geoff Johns and Superman: The Movie director Richard Donner will also contribute stories to Action Comics #1000.
In addition, DC will be releasing a special anniversary hardcover in 2018 that collects a number of iconic Superman stories as well as essays from comics historians and a cover gallery of all 1000 issues of Action Comics. Perhaps the biggest selling point in this hardcover is a previously unpublished story that's believed to have been crafted by Superman co-creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
No word on plot details on what issue 1000 will be about but it's only a few months away so be sure to keep it right here for more updates.
