Earlier last weekend at New York Comic Con we got word from creator Todd McFarlane in his spotlight panel that he is hoping to get the reboot Spawn movie off the ground but early 2018, saying he aiming for a January-February 2018 to start production.
The movie got greenlit a few months back as a production of Blumhouse (Insidious and Get Out) and it will be McFarlanes first directorial debut and also be written by no other than McFarlane himself. Here's what he had to say about being a director on the film:
“I didn’t know how to make comic books, but I made comic books and won awards,” he said when asked why he felt he could adequately direct the movie. “I didn’t know how to make toys, but I made toys and won awards. I don’t know how to make music, but I have a Grammy.”
No word on a release date for the film.
