With the amazing success of the first film, Sony is in final negotiations with screenwriting duo Chris McKenna and Eric Sommers two write Spider-Man Homecoming sequel, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
THR also claims that Sony and Marvel are in talks to have Jon Watts back to helm the sequel as well.
Originally, John Francis Daley and Johnathan Goldstein did the initial script for the first film but it was Sommers and McKenna who handled the rewrite duties on set. Marvel and Sony were impressed by their work and gave them parts in Ant-Man and Wasp and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, according to the report.
The sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming is expected to hit theaters on July 5, 2019.
