Earlier this afternoon Lucasfilm announced that Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow has departed from the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX.
Lucasfilm and Disney released this statement "Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX. Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon."
According to The Hollywood Reporter the biggest concern with the film was scripting issues, with screenwriter Jack Thorne having the latest attempt at early draft of the film. The untitled Star Wars: Episode IX is still slated to hit theaters May 24, 2019.
